Overview

Knowing how to best use laboratories specializing in the field of microwaves will form an important scientific backing, which is fundamental during the training period, our course members, based all around the Rhone-Alpes region will actively welcome participate and support you.. During the time you spend carrying out your research in the laboratory and likewise when on work placement, they will offer Academic support at all times and will give lessons too.
Our course team are specialists in the field of microwaves and its materials and come from the following associated laboratories :
IMEP GRENOBLE
LCIS VALENCE
LAHC CHAMBERY
LPM LYON
DIOM SAINT-ETIENNE

The research and project work which unites our laboratories together, the strong partnership between students and specialists, which lies at the heart of the master course, indeed makes this masters programme most unique and very attractive.

Half the lectures will be given in English ; this will allow English speaking students to adapt more easily to the French system and allow other speakers to become more familiar with the language which is the most heavily used in science and technology. All lectures will be reinforced with supporting materials and documents in the targeted languages, French and English.

This Masters in applied science can indeed boast a highly qualified teaching team who are specialists in the field of microwaves and materials. This masters course, is composed of, in part, aspects of what was touched upon during second and third year of a standard engineering degree course.
At ISTASE, we offer a course of study which is targeted to let our students flourish and succeed in all areas of their training. We offer a variety of complementary courses to enhance our students employability.

Many of the courses and lectures in the Doctoral school are given by contributors, who are sourced through international exchange programmes. Laboratory professors and professionals representing industry are invited to speak about their subject areas. As a consequence, students will have a wide range of choices available to them, when deciding what additional courses and training to take, in the many Specialisms available.
The masters degree programme, will be awarded to students who have completed 120 ECTS over the course of four semesters. The first 60 ECTS can be transferred from other institutions and programmes if the student has completed an equivalent degree or the first year of a masters programme elsewhere.

The possibility of e-learning within the confines of the Eden 3 programme, is available at ISTASE. This will allow students in the second year of the masters programme to follow certain lessons over a period of two months at the faculty and likewise during the nine month internship, students will be able to follow the remaining lectures through the medium of e-learning.
For Students who take this path, videoconferencing will facilitate this approach, maintaining contact between the course team and students. It will also be an important pedagogical tool allowing conferences on line, lectures and seminars to take place.

Criteria for 1st year admissions

Students coming from foreign universities will be selected based on their applications by a committee of professors.

Prerequisite ; A Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Criteria for 12nd year admissions

First year masters students will be admitted into the second year of study based on the results of an end of year assessment.

Students from foreign universities applying directly into the second year study, will be selected by a committee that will evaluate the compatibility of their previous studies with the DNM.
