Trainings & Projects

A work placement is carried out in the first year during February. It allows students to make contact with the industry and its constraints. Besides, ISTASE encourages and helps students who find summer jobs related to their training as engineers.

In the second year, projects are carried out in groups. They are linked to the industrial world or to local research laboratories and the topics are related to the subjects taught at ISTASE. Individual projects are also offered.

The end-of-studies training lasts for 5 months. It is part of semester 6 in the third year. It aims at completing a project, be it research creation or development on a precise topic, as an engineer in a French or foreign company would. The student must write a report and present it before a jury of professors and industrialists. The mark obtained is of great importance for the diploma.

It is possible for some students to do most of their 3rd year in a company as a sort of self-training, with the help of Tele-teaching. To be selected for this programme, students must be able to work very autonomously and have obtained excellent marks in first and second year. For these students, the year is divided in the following way : 6 weeks of full-time courses at school (from mid-September to October), followed by a nine months practical training in a company from November to July. During this training, the students get a weekly day off from the company to study their courses. Each Tele-teaching module includes courses and individual tutoring.
