The
investigation of zeta functions has a
fundamental place in many areas (number theory, arithmetic geometry,
group theory, mathematical physics, graph
theory, dynamical systems, partial
differential equations...). Many problems
from these areas
as problems of counting solutions of
Diophantine equations
can be reformulated in terms of analytic problems of
zeta functions like meromorphic
continuation, description
of poles, special values, etc...
This point of view allows using the
powerful analytic
and geometrical methods (residues, integral representations,
singularities, etc...) in these areas.
The focus of
the workshop will be on some
recent advances in the study of zeta functions. We hope to help
the specialists in remote fields, linked
by the use of
zeta functions, to exchange their experience.
