3- Iodocholesterol scintigraphy

• Radiopharmaceutical :
  131 I - 6 ß iodomethyl 19 norcholesterol
  
  
• Protocol : thyroïd protection
  30 drops / day (40 mg) Lugol from D - 2 à D + 6
  - slow IV injection 37 to 74 MBq ( 1 to 2 mCi )
  - scintigraphies at D + 2 and D + 5
  
  
• Dosimetry :
  

  adrenals	100 - 300	cGy / 2 mCi
  gonads	4 - 6	cGy / 2 mCi

• Contra-indication : pregnant or breast-feeding women

Without suppression test : possible weak visualization of the two adrenals. If interfering images in the gut area : give a laxative and perform again a scintigraphy 24 hours later. The right adrenal is lesser well seen than the left adrenal.
