Thematic ranking of Shanghai 2017: UJM ranked in the world's top 100 universities in mathematics

Jean Monnet University is honored in the world record of academic disciplines of Shanghai, published on June 28, 2017, ranking in the world's top 100 universities in mathematics. This international distinction confirms the very high level of training and research in mathematics at UJM.

The publication of the World Topic List of Shanghai 2017 distinguishes UJM for the quality of its teaching and its research in mathematics since the University is ranked in the top 100 universities among more than 4,000 universities throughout the world and in the top 15 universities in France.

Since 2012, an intense research activity in mathematics at the Camille Jordan Institute (Jean Monnet University, Saint Etienne / CNRS / Lyon 1 University  / Ecole Centrale Lyon / INSA Lyon) has resulted in numerous scientific articles, published in particular in the journal «  Annals of Mathematics », recognised by the Shanghai ranking, as one of the most prestigious journal in the field.
In addition, Jean Monnet University has recruited several young researchers of high-level, particularly in probability and statistics, in a wish to promote and support its historical domains of excellence such as numerical analysis, algebra and number theory.

In the fields of science, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences, UJM is also classified in the top 500 universities.

Shanghai's thematic ranking is an annual world ranking of academic disciplines published by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. It classifies more than 4,000 universities worldwide in 52 disciplines covering 5 major fields: earth sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences.
