A generic textual data format, not directly geographic (see [[english:glossary:geojson|geoJson]]), derived from the notation of objects in JavaScript programming language, readable by both humans and machines. It permits the representation of structured information. Its simplicity and light weight compared to other formats explains its habitual usage by developers.
