This discretization method is based on statistical parameters: the core value that is the average and a dispersion value that measures the standard deviation from the mean. One can choose an odd number of classes, in which case, the mean is in the middle of the central class, or with an even number, where the mean is the number divided by two. This method requires that the distribution has a symmetrical shape and as close as possible to a normal (Gaussian) distribution.
