====== Texts ====== In cartography, texts are all the elements mobilizing an alphabet and numbers that are displayed on the map. These are typically place names (toponyms), but more generally include all the labels designating the entities represented or added to the markers. The choice of the texts is important for readability and the aesthetics of the map. We avoid giving text too much importance and we avoid multiple fonts. We must carefully choose the location of the texts, close enough to the entities they designate but without hiding them or overlapping. The texts designating highways or rivers must also follow the lines of the entities. On computer maps with variable zoom, the variation in the size of the texts according to the scale is a complex problem.
