Acronym for Satellite Pour l'Observation de la Terre. Earth observation satellites developed by Centre National d’Études Spatiales (CNES), the space agency of France. The SPOT satellites gather hight-resolution imagery used in natural resource management, climatology, oceanography, environmental monitoring of human activities.
