An attribute table contains the non-spatial characteristics, thus, the alphanumerics and the entities. A table is usually managed by a type of program called Database Management System (DBMS). A table is formed of rows and columns. Each line corresponds to an entity. The columns carry the attributes (characteristics) of the entities. In software, the columns often bear the name of the field. Each field is defined by its name, type (numeric, alphanumeric, date …) and length. From a statistical point of view, a field can be considered as a statistical variable describing the geographical, considered then as much as individual statistics.
