Information Systems

Among the many definitions of an information system, the most traditional is as methodical sets of formalizable information, circulating interdependently within an organization that has the procedures and means necessary to define them, search for them, formalize, maintain, and distribute them. An information system mobilizes various types of resources to manage this information: hardware, software, personnel, data, procedures, etc. (Volle (2000) and Reix (2002)). The design and management of an information system combines the technical tasks related to systems of information processing, consisting of computers and other hardware devices, with programs and applications, software, and databases. The needs and the uses to which the information system must respond must also be analyzed.
