A SDBMS denotes an information architecture in which stored geometric information such as points, polylines, polygons or raster grids are managed as internal objects in a Relational DBMS, in addition to attribute data. Thus, SDBMS benefit from all the functions of RDBMS (identification, transaction, backup, versioning).
