Le workshop "Public policies, Cities and Regions", organisé par le GATE Lyon Saint-Etienne, réunira durant deux jours des chercheurs en pointe sur la question de l’effet des politiques publiques dans un contexte spatial. Il a pour but d’améliorer notre compréhension des interactions entre politiques publiques et organisation spatiale des activités économiques.

Chaque journée commencera par une conférence plénière. Nathaniel Baum-Snow (Univ. de Toronto) évoquera l’évolution de la dynamique de population des quartiers situés à la proche périphérie des centres ville aux Etats-Unis. Kurt Schmidheiny (Univ. de Bâle) traitera des différents régimes d’imposition du revenu dans les municipalités Suisses et des réponses comportementales des travailleurs étrangers à haut revenu.

Les autres participants présenteront diverses contributions en économie urbaine concernant la politique du logement, la politique fiscale, la politique d’éducation, les infrastructures de transport ou bien encore le phénomène de ségrégation urbaine.
