Adrien Lutz, University St Etienne- GATE L-SE, présentera un séminaire intitulé : Distributive Justice in the Socialists in 19th century.

Thème de recherche / Main topics : History of economic thought, Political philosophy, Social justice.

Résumé / abstract  : "To each ability according to his needs” is the principle or formula of income distribution in a communist society. Before Karl Marx argued this principle in Critique of the Gotha Program, early socialists formulated similar or related principles of income distribution. This study argues how early socialists in the 19th century in France formulated the principle of distributive justice. We show that there are at least three main categories of principles of distributional justice. By examining their own reasonings of the principles, we discuss that there is the difference in ideas of equality, although almost all of early socialists fundamentally tried to achieve the equal access of means of production.
